Community Safety and Wash Program to Increase Community Safety and Sanitation Awareness
Trident Foundation introduced the Community Safety and WaSH program in 2021 in order to Increase Community Safety and Sanitation Awareness Within the Mine Catchment Area, through the following initiatives:
- Community Safety Awareness Campaigns
- Water User Committees Governance
- Water Quality Monitoring/NWASCO Compliance
- Water Infrastructure Sustenance
- Sanitation &
- Hygiene Awareness Campaigns.

Highlights
FQM Health and Wellness conducted a School based Malaria prevalence targeting 23 schools (20 impacted
schools and 3 control schools). The objective of the study was to conduct a survey among school children of
age 5-14 years to establish the point prevalence of malaria parasite in Kalumbila District.
Conducted professional services through community outreach in three (3) catchment health facilities. Services
included Growth Monitoring and Promotion, Universal Child Immunisation, Malaria screening and
Information Education and Communication (IEC) material distribution. A total of 286 children accessed
various services during the outreach.
Supported the 2022 safe motherhood week commemoration with the theme “Deliver at a health facility with a
skilled birth attendant” in five (5) catchments facilities. The activity included awareness on family planning,
antenatal care, postnatal care, post abortion care, HIV/AIDS/STIs, malaria control and baby hamper
distribution to postnatal mothers to encourage health facility deliveries.
