To ensure the Health of its employees and improve production, the First Quantum Health and Wellness Department has launched the 2023 Health Literacy Programme for all FQM employees. The launches occurred at Kansanshi Mine on 18th January and at Sentinel (Trident) in Kalumbila on 25th January.
The health literacy programme is aimed at reminding workers about available medical services provided for them by the mining company, and encouraging them to develop strong habits to proactively look after their health.
Employees at both Solwezi and Kalumbila had an opportunity to visit the stands set up at their respective operations to appreciate the Health Services available. The stands were set up to give an opportunity to employees to learn about the wide range of physical and mental health services, activities and support made available for them by the company.
First Quantum Minerals Operations (FQMO) Site Health Services Superintendent, Leonie Kloppers, said the Health awareness programmes will be held monthly, each having a unique health awareness topic and January will focus on Health Literacy.
The mining operations depend on a healthy workforce and the efforts by First Quantum Health and Wellness help the mines achieve their targets.
