FQM Trident Ltd Donates Education Infrastructure and Supplies to Kalumbila District in Zambia

FQM Trident Ltd has handed over a 1X3 classroom block, a poultry house, 22000 primary school exercise books and 1930 textbooks to the Ministry of General Education in Kalumbila district. The Mine also handed over sports kits for football, netball and volleyball.

This was during a handover ceremony at Kalumbila North Primary School graced by senior officials from the Ministry of Education led by the Kalumbila District Commissioner represented by the District Administration Officer Mr Frank Siatwinda.

Speaking at the event, FQM Trident Community Affairs Manager Joseph Ngwira said from its inception, the Mine has provided educational support to the community through its special purpose vehicle for corporate social investment called Trident Foundation Limited (TFL). He added that TFL also initiated a deliberate program targeting girl child education called Educating and Developing Girls for Empowerment (EDGE), an initiative through which 30 nursing students from the local community are being sponsored at Solwezi Nursing School and assistance to end period poverty is rendered to girls in primary schools by supplying them with sanitary pads.
